The 100% Grolleau from Les Athlètes du Vin is sourced from a 4-hectare sustainable vineyard of 60-year old vines on clay-silt soil on blue schist of the Angers Trélazé region. All grapes are hand harvested and fermented with spontaneous carbonic maceration in stainless steel, then aged in cement tank for six months. The wine is a light ruby with an enticing mix of fresh berry and savoury woodland notes. Light and fresh, enjoy this Grolleau slightly chilled with a plate of washed-rind cheeses and cured meats.
Region: Loire Valley, France
Selling Format: 750mL Bottle
Les Athlètes du Vin is a négociant project focused on typical, value-driven wines from the Loire Valley. The idea was conceived by a group of French winemakers called Vini Be Good, who work together to distribute their wines across France. The wines are vinified by various members of the Vini Be Good network using their own grapes or grapes purchased from friends and neighbours in the Loire. They are proud to present these wines made by their friends and family, as several of the cuvées are vinified by Gérard Vallée, brother of Mathieu Vallée from Château Yvonne.
